Speaking from the stage...

I've had a desire to speak from the stage, and share my story, thoughts and ideas with others. I just have no clue how to go about doing such. On top of that you can sprinkle in a dash of imposter syndrome and you have the perfect recipe for...

EXCUSES!

The time for excuses is over, a friend once told me you'll either find a way or you'll find an excuse. I no longer have any excuses about why I'm not speaking at events. I will find a way.

As a first step I have scheduled some time with a well known tech speaker. There is nothing quite like having a mentor as you navigate unknown territory. I was at a mastermind meeting this afternoon and one of the guys in my group said he wanted to be a motivational speaker. Long story short fear had been holding him back. I've wanted to speak myself for sometime.

In listening to him talk, I realized that he was sharing my thoughts and feelings. After listening to him share his desire, and after hearing the advise that the group gave to him I made up in my mind that I would be moving forward. No longer would I continute to find reasons why this wasn't the best time for me to start speaking.

I didn't even tell anyone in my mastermind about this...

I'm sharing this with you here, for all the world to see. (or lest the part of the world that looks at this post ;) Keep an eye out for my name, you'll have the chance to hear me speak at more than one event this year. I'm excited and nerveous about what is to come. None the less, it's time to move forward and turn what was once only a dream into my reality.

Until Next Time...
